I’ve been carrying this picture on my phone for a while, waiting for the right moment to use it. So, when I received the e-mail about today’s “Daily Prompt”, I realized why I hadn’t deleted it.
This is my tattoo. I got it about 4 years ago after my Significant Other (of 16 years) designed it for us.
Now, he lives in the UK and the compass stands for the distance between us. The letters are anagrams of a combination of names. Since we met through an online grief management news group on the old “Usenet”, he included the names of our significant others who passed away (Julie & Bill) and our names (Trevor & Ginny).
It’s a tattoo that won’t be seen on anyone else but our arms. I loved the idea of having matching tattoos because I always have him by my side, and likewise, him. Even though we have a big pond between us, we are in contact with each other every day via phone, texting, e-mail, etc. We see each other, physically, about every two years.
He recently retired, while I still have at least 2 years to work. Some couples exchange wedding rings but I like our matching tattoos.
